R7000 router very slow

I've had this router for a couple years but never checked my speeds till lately. Comcast wanted to up gread me to 75mpbs. They said I was paying for 25. I checked and I am only getting 9.5 mpbs download and 2.5 upload, (this is with a wired computer). I had them send a service person who found I was getting 30 out of the modem, but 9.5 out of router, which he doesnt fix. So I upgraded to laterst firmware, reset, still the 9.5.  Did some reading here and saw some had luck with downgrading, so I installed  V1.0.4.30_1.1.67 , same result. I moved my computer cable to a new port, same results. I'm getting steady 9.5 no matter what I tried.

Any suggestions?

thanks

I WMM on? Any Wireless devices being used?

Have you tried a RESET of the router using the back recessed button? Do not re-enter any settings and test speed.

One thing to try, replicate your PC's MAC address to be the Router's (ADVANCED=>INTERNET SETUP=>ROUTER MAC ADDRESS) and see if the speed is correct after re-booting the router.

Re: R7000 router very slow

II have the 3 wired devices and couple of wifi. The my laptop connected by wifi is roughly the same speed. And yes I re-set using the little button on back.  I re-set after every firmware change.

I'll try your suggestion, with Mac address tonight, Thanks

When you use the RESET button all settings are RESET. If you load a saved set or re-enter them it is possible that one is causing the problem. A 'factory reset' condition will allow a wired PC to test the speed in the default router setting state.

Re: R7000 router very slow

I reset and couldnt get back to even slow speeds... no internet at all. Rebooted everything in order....getting yellow!

I give up... I will be buying a new router today... not  a Netgear one.
