R7000P running V1.3.3.154_10.1.86 NTP fails to connect, time stamps all wrong

I just noticed that may router has no clue about the date and time.  I go to the Netgear web app, Advanced>Administration>NTP settings and am greeted with the message

Warning: The router is failed to connect to NTP server, please check your Internet connectivity or try another NTP server

I was set to use the Netgear NTP server...since that wasn't working, I then used NIST servers with explicit IP addresses:
129.6.15.32 and 132.163.96.5, and even in desperation 194.109.6.65

Same error message every time.  Although the router did at least get the date and the hour right, the time is off by 27 minutes.

Log file contains nothing relevant.

anybody else seeing this??

  • I do not know what part of the world you are located in.

    A couple of options:  pool.ntp.org or time.nist.gov

Kind of a bad day in the US for fussing with time servers.  Daylight Saving Time began this AM.

What is the brand name and model number of the modem/gateway/ONT connected upstream?

      Guide

Weird--well, for whatever reason it's working again now (hadn't been working for 8 months).

Interesting that Netgear's time server is about 25 minutes off from the rest of the world. I'm using the nist server instead...
