R9000 with SFP+ as WAN port
Dear Community and Gurus, Has anybody actually got more than 1gbps combined on all open LAN ports, downloading concurrently, of R9000 when SFP+ is connected as WAN to a fiber 10gbps connection? ...
I would presume that if the ISP side of the SPF port was at 10Gb connection rates, that if you had four 1Gb connected PCs connected to the 1Gb LAN ports in back, each one could see near or just over 900Mpbs on each PC while testing all at the same time.
It would seem to be a logical position to assume.
But let me to use a Thomas-inspired method in this case. Fact is it was put to me as being simply a marketing PR by Netgear of the claim cited at the link given above. It was the reason for my question of actual result as proof.
Ya they should have given more details about the LAN side not seeing more than 1Gb due to the LAN ports being capped at 1Gb only.
So unless it can be PROVEN that more than 1 Gigabits of data per second, at the same time, can be delivered to R9000's 4 LAN ports (connected to 4 independent PC's), Netgear's claim is misleading. In other words, it is NOT true!
BTW, is it why NO ISP company recommends R9000 to its customers for connecting to its fiber 10Gbps connection?
Anyone, including Netgear engineers, please?
The R9000 is EoL as it's several years old now. There are other routers that now have actual 10gb WAN and ethernet ports.
ISP don't tend to recommend equipement out side of there domain. They want users to use there stuff.
