Yesterday i downloaded latest firmware and issue still not fixed. Why is it netgear and every security expert says turn off responding to pings but when using vpn this option is not able to be disabled. Responding to pings is not required for any vpn connection to stay alive. Using openvpn even recommends not responding to pings. Is netgear just making devices and throwing security out the window setting users up for failure

Hi NightRouter,
It is how OpenVPN is implemented on NETGEAR routers. It is greyed out when OpenVPN is enabled.
