Static IP address or reserved IP address?

It has the same end result. It allows you to manage the device from a central place (router), rather than having to set up a static IP in the device, as well as making sure the router doesn't hand it out to another device.
Most devices by default use DHCP (or in simple terms, get IP address automatically).
I have set reservations for 28 devices without a problem.
Just looked at the LAN setup section for the R7000. It has 10 slots for reserved addresses. More than enough for what I want to do. Put my NAS devices at 2 locations on a reserved address and then rebooted the routers. Seems to be working - other device addresses changed but the NAS remained the same.
