Why my IP went from residential to business?
Im currently unable to login to a gaming server because according to them, my IP is identified as business.
However, When I dierectly connect my modem to my Pc and run a speed test or any sort of test to see if that’s the case, it says residential.
But when I connect from my modem to my router(netgear nighthawkac2400) and then to my pc and run the test again, it says business.
How do I configure it to residential? I live in a residential and confirmed with my ISP that it is indeed residential.

Re: Why my IP went from residential to business?
What spectrum gateway do you have?
Are you using armor, parental controls, or a vpn?
have you tried changing the dns provider? Try googles at 8.8.8.8 or 8.8.4.4 or cloudfare's at 1.1.1.1
What firmware is on the router?
Are you playing on a xbox/ps4-5/what exactly is telling you this?

Re: Why my IP went from residential to business?
Im not using any wall or vpn.
Oh just an update, it seems like it is NOT the router that is giving me business classification. I plugged my pc directly to the modem this time and it says “spectrum business?”
It didn’t the first time. I also called my isp and they said it was residential. Very puzzling!

Usually the modem box that connects you to the outside world.
Your problem seems to be with Spectrum.

I'd start by asking how, exactly, "they" determined that. To me,
this whole question sounds bogus. So far as I know, the Internet is not
divided between "residential" and non-"residential". Where does one go
to see the residentiality of the IP address one has?
And then, why do "they" care?

"it"?
What are the IP addresses being tested in both these cases?
> did you try a different dns?
How, exactly, would _any_ DNS-related information affect how some
(unspecified) entity might view some (unspecified) IP address or other
as "residential" or not (whatever that might actually mean)?

Re: Why my IP went from residential to business?
Here's an update. We are using an electrical wifi/internt extender from downstair to upstair. We just reset the two devices this morning and I got a different IP and it no longer say business. We also changed out the router, though I doubt this has anythign to do with it.
So it appears to me that the electrical extender is what's causing the issue!

There is a difference between residential and business internet. Try playing the online game Diablo 2 with a business and let me know the result.

Says who? What? Why?

You shouldn't hold your breath waiting for that to happen.
If someone tells you that the sky has turned from blue to a tartan
plaid, do you believe it until you can get outside on a cloudless day to
check?

You might want to review your answers to my questions, if you're
