Will this router work after the switch to IPv6?

I have a Fios Router Model Fios-G1100.  Will this router work after the switch to IPv6?

Thanks!

Re: Will this router work after the switch to IPv6?

What mode is the ISP modem working in? Router or Bridge? If in router mode, probably not.

This would be a double NAT condition which isn't recommended. https://kb.netgear.com/30186/What-is-Double-NAT

Couple of options,
1. Configure the modem for transparent bridge or modem only mode. Then use the NG router in router mode. You'll need to contact the ISP for help and information in regards to the modem being bridged correctly.
2. If you can't bridge the modem, disable ALL wifi radios on the modem, configure the modems DMZ/ExposedHost or IP Pass-Through for the IP address the NG router gets from the modem. https://kb.netgear.com/25891/DMZ-on-NETGEAR-routers

Not sure why you're asking about the g1100.

Do you have a netgear router?

Re: Will this router work after the switch to IPv6?

We received an email from Verizon (see below).  Our other router is a Fios-G1100 model.  It is not clear from Verizon's email if that model will work after the upgrade adding support for the IPv6 discussed in the email below.

Hello,

Verizon is upgrading our Fios Internet network to provide our business customers with dual stack dynamic IPv6 /IPv4 addressing. We will continue to maintain support for IPv4 while adding support for IPv6. We anticipate the upgrade to take place in your area on or after June 5, 2022.

In order to prepare for this upgrade, please review your router security settings to make sure the network is protected from possible intrusion.

Currently, the only Verizon provided routers that support IPv6 are the Fios Router and the Fios Quantum Gateway. To determine which router you are using, click or visit the links below and review the contents:

 Fios Router - verizon.com/fiosbusinessrouter
 Fios Quantum Gateway - verizon.com/fiosquantumtroubleshooting

If you have one of the Verizon provided routers listed above, we recommend a firewall security setting of Medium or above (Medium is the default setting of the router). In order to verify your current settings, connect to the router through your computer by logging into myfiosgateway.com or typing 192.168.1.1 into a browser session and authenticating with the password found on the side of the device. Please click or visit the appropriate link above for further instructions.

If you’re providing your own router, we recommend that you check with your router's manufacturer to determine if it supports IPv6 and for information on appropriate security settings.

If you would like more information on IPv6, including FAQs, please click or visit verizon.com/ipv6faq.

Thanks,

Your Verizon Team

If this is only in reference to Verizon's router, you'll need to contact Verizon for help and information regarding there product.

If you have  NG router, please state the model you have.
