eathernet lights amber

When I plyg my TV into my router the ethernet light stays amber. It seems to work OK but why isn't it white. On my previous netgear it was white.

What is your "my TV", and how fast is its Ethernet port?

Visit http://netgear.com/support , put in your model number,
and look for Documentation.  Get the User Manual.  Look for "Table 1.
LED and button descriptions" and "Ethernet ports 1-4".

       There are some possibilities.

Strangely, much as with your "my TV", I have no idea what your "my
    previous netgear" was.

Have you tried a known-good (Cat5e or better) cable?  A slightly
defective ceble can cause what should be a gigabit link to slow to
    100MHz.
