Re: need more mbps
You didn't give us much to go off.
1. what modem/gateway do you have?
2. what router do you have?
3. what firmware is on it?
4. whats your 2nd router that you're connecting to? Is it hardwired in? wireless?
5. How are you testing speeds? wired? wireless? 2.4ghz? 5ghz?
6. how big is your home? what are the interior walls made of? How far from router 1 is the 2nd device?
these are all key as we need to know full details of your setup and how you're testing.

Re: need more mbps
It probably doesn't make much difference to your question – in any case we need answers to the questions from @plemans – but the XRM570 is a "Gaming Router & Mesh WiFi System".
You might get more help, and find earlier questions and answers specific to your device, in the appropriate section for your hardware. That's probably here:
Nighthawk Pro Gaming Routers - NETGEAR Communities
Gaming routers have their own DumaOS operating system that is nothing like the one on Netgear's standard routers.
In the meantime you could visit the support pages:
Support | NETGEAR
Feed in your model number and check the documentation for your hardware. Look at the label on the device for the model number.
You may have done this already. I can't tell from your message.
I mention it because Netgear stopped supplying printed manuals and CD versions some years ago and people sometimes miss the downloads.

Where did that suddenly come from? What was that XRM570 all about?

So you have two routers using the same Internet connection?
It gets messier and messier.
What is this unnamed "second router"? How is it set up? Wifi repeater? Router?
Two routers on your network can cause headaches. For example, you can end up with local address problems. Among other things, the other router can misdirect addresses that the Netgear router usually handles, such as routerlogin.net or the usual IP address for a router, 192.168.1.1.
This explains some of the other drawbacks.

We still don't know hat modem/gateway you have.

Bit of a stretch for wifi, especially 5 GHz and the material is likely to soak up the wifi signal. Depending on the quality of the internal mains circuit, it might be worth investigating Powerline Ethernet.
