netgear night hawk r8000 factory reset itself

Hello, tonight my wifi went out and when I tried unplugging router like I normally would do. Nothing happen it still wasn't working. My moden was fine then I realized that the router had reset itself from the name I gave it to Netgear 96.  I don't know why this happened. Any thoughts.  I got it backup and work but had to go through a hole new set up with different name. Thanks for the help.
