Does the MS70 include a switch?

I have a Netgear Mesh system that includes one MR70 router and an MS70 satellite.  My router is in a separate part of the house from my office/gaming room and I am unable to connect my gaming PC to it via ethernet.  Therefore I have the PC wired to the satellite which sits on my desk.  I also do PCVR gaming and connect my Quest 3 headset to the PC wirelessly.  I have a separate and dedicated 5G SSID where the Quest 3 is the only device, and I can see from the network map on the Nighthawk app that it is connected to the satellite (not the router).

I'm trying to troubleshoot a performance issue related to network latency.  I can see that my latency between the Q3 and PC spikes from 5 ms to sometimes ~35+ ms causing performance problems.

Question:  Does the data connection from my headset go directly to the PC from the satellite via a layer 2 switching capability or does it go all the way back through the router at layer 3?  For clarification, here are the two paths I can see:

Option 1 (layer 2): Q3 Headset > 5G to MS70 satellite > ethernet to the PC

Option 2 (layer 3): Q3 Headset > 5G to MS70 > 5G backhaul to MR70 Router > 5G backhaul return to MS70 > ethernet to PC

This will determine whether I need to buy an access point and a switch to eliminate the backhaul and all the possible network interference that comes with it.  If you have knowledge of the inner workings of the MS70 satellite, I'd appreciate your insight.

TIA
