Forcing tv to utilize closer satellite

My tv utilizes the far away base and reception is sketchy. How can I force my tv to use the satellite that is 6 ft away??

The tv decides which to connect to. Not the router. 

Is the satellite at least 30 ft aware from the tv? 

You can't force it but you could try shutting the tv off (fully, not just standby) and then reboot it. 

See if it connects to the satellite. 

If that doesn't help, you can try decreasing the routers broadcast power a notch or 2.
