MR70 5GHz channel selection only 36 -124
My MR70 only allows me to select 5GHz channels 36 - 124.
Also it will not allow me to select the BW. It always defaults to 120MHz or 8 channels. Then when there it see traffic on channels 52 - 64 it switches the MR70 to channels 149 -161. Which is only 60MHz BW.
Which are not even listed in the channels selectable for the 5GHz.

Re: MR70 5GHz channel selection only 36 -124
Your "up to ****mbps" is what sets your channel width.
I don't have that specific system to play with but the 70 series has the faster speeds than the 60 series because it does allow 160hz wide channels. If you're using the 160hz wide channels, it has to be in a channel grouping that supports it. That'd be the 36-124. If you want to use other channels, set your speeds from "up to 2400mbps" to "up to 1200mbps". that'll narrow it to 80hz wide channels.

You should take a good look at your firmware concerning the MR70 & MS70.
I have always looked to Netgear as having a quality product.
I am a IT professional that have done warehouse WiFi analysis and installations. I expect a certain amount of control over channel selection and channel BW selection. That ability was sorely lacking in the Nighthawk Router and Satellite.
I put back in place Orbi RBR20 & RBS20.
I chose to switch to the Ubiquity Unifi WiFi APs for upgrading to WiFi 6.

I returned the MR70 & MS70 for refund to Amazon.---Probably smart with your requirements.
You should take a good look at your firmware concerning the MR70 & MS70.---Wouldn't do any good as I'm not netgear. I'm just a user who tries to help out on the forums. Thats why you're posting in the public forums.
I have always looked to Netgear as having a quality product.---and they are pretty solid. But the MK series is the lower end mesh networks. You won't get advanced features/business level equipment at that level.
I am a IT professional that have done warehouse WiFi analysis and installations.---so you'd expect that you'd know what you were buying when you bought consumer gear and fairly base level gear at that. I expect a certain amount of control over channel selection and channel BW selection. That ability was sorely lacking in the Nighthawk Router and Satellite.----Because its base level consumer gear designed for people who don't know much about networking and so need a set and forget device.
I put back in place Orbi RBR20 & RBS20.
I chose to switch to the Ubiquity Unifi WiFi APs for upgrading to WiFi 6.----An even smarter plan. Switching to business level equipment is where you should have started versus trying to use basic consumer gear
