Struggling to connect N300 Wifi Range extender to D-Link Router

I have tried to link the Netgear N300 Range Extender to my D-Link Router but it is not picking up the router.  I have tried connecting with WPS and have also tried with the Netgear Genie and still not picking up my D-Link Router.  Please could you assist with other suggestions.

    N300 is a speed and not a model. A model number might help. 

    Have you tried hardwiring into the extender and doing a manual setup?

    If you go to netgear.com/support/  you can type in the model number and find installation manuals and firmware updates.
