"As you go up the spectrum, the output power goes up along with the frequency. As Jim suggested, you'll get the best range when using the highest channels. I believe the Netgear defaults to 151".

Hi, I am new to this forum. I have a new Netgear N600 wireless dual band Gigabit modem/router. I am also having issues with no access to the 5G . How would I go about changing the "channel" to see if my devices can then see it. My modem/router is upstairs and I just purchased and installed a Netgear booster to see if that will help. Any other suggestions are appreciated!

Are you certain that device you are trying to connect has 5Ghz support?
