AC1750 Mesh Extender and Telstra Smart Modem
Hi
Based in Australia and have just received our new Telstra Smart Modem but I am having no luck trying to connect my AC1750 WI FI Mesh extender. Extender worked perfectly with the previous modem and was very easy to set up. Have put the extender beside the modem and trying to use the Nighthawk App to connect them but cannot get them to talk to each other
Would apprecitate if anyone else has experienced similar issue and how they fixed it.
Thanks

Re: AC1750 Mesh Extender and Telstra Smart Modem
What telstra smart modem is it?
Are you setting up using wps?
If so, I'd try setting it up using the installation assistant.
For best results, factory reset the extender (push and hold reset for 7-15 seconds while powered on), then connect a pc/laptop to the ethernet port and disable the pc/laptops wifi so it only uses the ethernet connection, then try setup using the assistant.

Re: AC1750 Mesh Extender and Telstra Smart Modem
Hi
Thanks for the quick reply.
Not sure on the Telstra Modem as I am sending this from work and it is at home but I presume it is the latest one as we only got sent it just after Xmas.
Silly question time - do i leave the extender connected to pc/laptop while I am trying to set it up? I will give it a try tonight and let you know how I go.

Yes, leave the extender connected to the laptop/pc during setup.

Re: AC1750 Mesh Extender and Telstra Smart Modem
are you daisy chaining?
daisy chain: router----->extender------>extender
or setting up as a star configuration
star: extender<------router------>extender
I'd recommend star.
Tip for help setting up is shut off the 1st extender that is already setup.

Re: AC1750 Mesh Extender and Telstra Smart Modem
Fairly sure i am doing the star as I am trying to connect to the telstra modem direct.
The extender does not seem to recognize the modem at all.
Should I try connecting the extender to a laptop and connecting that way?.

Re: AC1750 Mesh Extender and Telstra Smart Modem
Tends to go faster and smoother than trying to use an app. And I trust it more than wps as wps doesn't always get coded as it should
