Recently i switched from DSL to cable internet, was getting at best 60mbps down/5up with DSL. This had to work for multiple connections, 2 work from home stations (that connect to VPN), xbox, Nighthawk router for wifi etc .. decided to try cable internet as it should be faster. At the modem i now get 255 mpbs down/20up ...
Heres my device connection method : Modem > NightHawk AC1750/R6400 router > unmanaged switch (since cable ISPs only give 1 IP address have to go this route)
I now have 2 issues:
1. Speed at the router varies from 120mpbs down/20 up to 180mpbs down/20up (why am i losing over 100 mbps, its still double what i was getting so its awesome just seems crazy)
2. Wifi, hardwired connections drop daily now. Have to reboot the router in order for things to work.
Never had any dc issues till i got the cable modem/internet. Am i doing something wrong, is this the wrong router for what i need? Any help would be greatly appreciated
