      G’day antinode (Guru)

Tried to reply to your email but that didn't work so came here!

(posted a new reply in Nighthawk Routers with WiFi 6 (AX) on 2021-05-13 07:57 PM)

"AC1900" is a speed, not a model number. Look for "Model" on the product label.
      It’s a Nighthawk R7000-100NAS

Why are you using that URL instead of, say, http://www.routerlogin.net/?
That’s the URL that’s presented when I open Google (or Edge) after hooking Nighthawk to my computer with a network cable.
The site returns the message www.routerlogin.net didn’t send any data
       Same goes for “http://www.routerlogin.net/”!!
Same happens if I type 192.168.1.1 in the Google or Edge address bar.

I can ping 192.1681.1 on the Nighthawk.

Ipconfig from my old Cisco router (which works)  and the Nighthawk are pretty much identical.
Only real difference I see is there is no [Connection-specific DNS Suffix] on the Nighthawk.

When laptop is connected wirelessly to the Comcast router (10.0.0.1) and I connect my laptop and a networked HP3600 laser printer to the Nighthawk, I “see” the LaserJet and can print to it.

Nothing changes if I restore factory defaults. It’s as if the Admin software has been erase erased somehow.

Is there a process that allows one to refresh/reload the Admin software?

      HELP!

      Aussie_Bob.

Bought Nighthawk as NIB on eBay back in January and have only just tried to use it in new townhouse.
Seller won’t refund/replace it as it’s passed its “expiry date” so am trying to get it to work, hopefully with your help.

That's the way the forum is supposed to work.  (Although, for an
R7000, a better choice would have been:
              https://community.netgear.com/t5/x/bd-p/home-wifi-routers-nighthawk
No need to worry about that now.)

        > It's a Nighthawk R7000-100NAS

           Ok.  "R7000" is good enough.

        > Bought Nighthawk as NIB on eBay [...]

The seller might have done almost anything to it, or there could be
        something quirky about your environment.

"the Comcast router"?  You lost me.  What, exactly, is connected to
what, exactly?  (Hint: If a device has different types of ports, then
"connected to device" is not enough detail.)

        > [...] my old Cisco router [...]

           Another mystery.

Now that I'm confused, I'd suggest connecting the R7000 to nothing
except its power adapter, and doing another settings reset (holding the
button down until the LEDs get entertaining). Then connect one of its
LAN ports to your computer.  Presumably, the computer's IPCONFIG report
should look about the same.  Then I'd try a web browser aimed at
        "http://192.168.1.1".

If that fails, then I might try the same thing with some web browser
or other on some wireless device or other.  It'd really be nice to get a
proper response from the management web site in the R7000.

There's a disaster-recovery scheme using TFTP to cram a firmware
image down its throat, but I'd start simple, and see if any easy
progress is possible before deploying the artillery.
