Airtime Fairness = 20/40mhz coexistence?

I have not upgraded to the latest firmware yet and noticed that in the notes about the new firmware, it mentions "implicit airtime fairness support". Is this the same as the 20/40mhz coexistence option in the previous firmware?

Choosing that option seemed to drastically dropped my wifi speeds. I am concerned that this new firmware permanently enables this option but calls it "airtime fairness".

If I am wrong here, can someone let me what they mean by "implicit airtime fairness support"?

Thanks

Re: Airtime Fairness = 20/40mhz coexistence?

Airtime Fairness is invoked between clients on the same router.

20/40mhz coexistence is a bandwidth limiter that affects overlapping RF interference between routers.

Not the same thing.
