BRAND NEW R7000 requires power cycle about once per week

Purchased 10/15/17

Updated to V1.0.9.12_1.2.23

In order to get Internet connectivity, I had to set the route MAC Address to my Desktop address.  My ISP changed something, and this was required to get internet (on my previous router too).

Desktop attached via Gigabit

NAS attached via Gigabit

Muliple wireless devices attached (phones, tablets, laptop, smart TV). Typically less than 6 devices in operation at any given time besides phone/tablet auto-sync, etc.

DHCP used for all IP addresses.  The desktop and NAS use reserved addresses through DHCP.

All wired and wireless LAN/WAN operations are perfect.  Fast, never a wifi drop, etc.  Zero complaints.

Twice since purchase the router loses ALL functionality.

Router can't be pinged from desktop command prompt.

Router can't be accessed via web interface.

Desktop can't access NAS over LAN

Wireless devices show a connection to the router, but they can't access LAN or WAN.

Power cycling the router restores full function.

Hi snoobler,

Try to reset the router to factory default and reconfigure.

Re: BRAND NEW R7000 requires power cycle about once per week

Since I posted, it hasn't done it again. Upon the next instance, I will do as advised; however, I don't expect much. The unit required a firmware update upon deployment.  Since very little customization had been done, I already did a factory default reset following the firmware update.  In other words, this behavior is after a reset to factory defaults.

Re: BRAND NEW R7000 requires power cycle about once per week

It has done it again, but in a different way. The LAN and WAN are functional for hard lines, but wifi is completely down as is the web interface.  Devices can't connect to Wifi if not connected, and if they show as connected, they have no access to LAN or WAN.

The router reponds to pings to its local IP address from a hardlined computer.

The router does NOT respond to http requests for admin.

I will power cycle the router and execute a reset to factory defaults.

Re: BRAND NEW R7000 requires power cycle about once per week

And again.  Exact same issue as my above post.  Hard line devices and LAN works, but wi-fi and hard line access of the web interface is completely inoperative.

Firmware V1.0.9.12_1.2.23

No updates available

Power cycle corrected it.

EDIT:  Router update function from web interface doesn't detect it, but support website says 1.0.9.14_1.2.25 is available. Downloaded and installed.

Wired LAN devices are working

Power cycle corrected it.

Same issue with me. Exactly. I think the rotor is faulty at this point. Would not recommend it to friends.

Re: BRAND NEW R7000 requires power cycle about once per week

The current installed version is:

V1.0.9.18_1.2.27

Are you saying I should downgrade?

Again today  Same deal. Power cycle corrected it. This was after calling tech support having them check things and have me manually switch to channel 11. Lasted 15 days.

Re: BRAND NEW R7000 requires power cycle about once per week

So...are you saying we should downgrade to R7000 Firmware Version 1.0.9.26 - Hot Fix today?

Right now I'm using Nighthawk R7000 and I have Firmware Version V1.0.9.18_1.2.27.

Please clarify @JamesGL

Thanks.

Re: BRAND NEW R7000 requires power cycle about once per week

Hi Jsleek,

The latest firmware is 1.0.9.26 and not the the 1.0.9.18. You may not find it on the support page for R7000 but it has different link to download which is from NETGEAR as well.

You should review this and maybe revert back to this recommended version of FW:

Re: BRAND NEW R7000 requires power cycle about once per week

Same problem here since upgrading FW to V1.0.9.26_10.2.31...

Local devices including the R7000 are pingable.

Routers web interface stops responding regardless of using routers ip or "routerlogin.net".

All client (LAN and WIFI) DNS requests fail presuming they're using the R7000 as their DNS. If you run nslookup and override the default dns (as provided by dhcp) and point directly at your ISPs DNS servers, name resolution works which stinks of a router fw issue.

Only solution: Power cycle.

Performed the latest update a few weeks ago. Much better. No issues for a few weeks straight now. Thank you.
