Hi! I just installed the R7800 and so far it's working fairly well, although not getting the speeds I had hoped for. I am assuming I need more tweaks. That's not why I'm posting, however.
What is the purpose of the Genie desktop software? It seems to me that the same software is in the router, rendering the desktop software nothing more than unnecessary bloat. Bloat that eats nearly 20% of my primary hard drive. Do I need this software, and/or the Vault software, on my desktop or does the router have all the same functionality from within the login interface? Will I potentially damage any functionality if I just uninstall it?
Thanks for your time and trouble!

you don't need Genie desktop nor any other NETGEAR mobile app. Just use the router's Web GUI at http://192.168.1.1
you will not lose any functionality if you uninstall these apps/programs

Re: Bloatware?
Thanks so much! I appreciate that feedback. I'm going to uninstall it. I need the space for my sims. 😉
