Bricked My R8000

So I just unbricked my R8000 last night after bricking it a couple months back (tried installing stock firmware; had DDWRT) and everything was somewhat working. With stock firmware, the wireless had no internet connection no matter what, so I installed DDWRT. After getting everything working I decided to overclock it for whatever reason. Anyway, after everything running smoothly for about an hour, I disconnect it and organize the cables and recconect it. Now it simply doesn't boot all the way. I've tried flashing through Putty via TTL to USB and SSH as well as Telnet; sadly none of those worked. I can't connect to my router through SSH/Telnet for more than a split second and when I use my TTL to USB I can't get past the CPU info. So now I'm using my old N750 with stock firmware and getting half the speed.

I haven't found a working method to get into recovery yet. I've tried the 30-30-30 method as well as several others.

Re: Bricked My R8000

Sounds like you might have wiped or corrupted the NVRAM partition. You might check with DDWRT to see if there is a way to re-seat this. If not, RMA it.

You may have to be economical with the truth to make that work.

I doubt if the warranty would cover unauthorised meddling with the firmware.

Re: Bricked My R8000

True, forgot that that any warranty and support is void when 3rd party FW is installed.

Re: Bricked My R8000

Is there a way to restore it via serial to BusyBox cmd line? Set cpu clock default

Re: Bricked My R8000

I'm not sure. Isn't BusyBox for Linux? If so I'm only running Windows, so I'd have to install Linux on a flash drive or something.

Re: Bricked My R8000

No bro Busybox is in the router via a shell. Busybox is an interesting bit in itself but you don't need to download anything... Windows, putty, and a serial cable should be all you need. Yea I didn't know it was there till I started browsing source code to compile my own firmware which you will need Linux for although all that is unnecessary..Ubuntu will work for that tho if it you chose to explore...virtual or otherwise....I know tmi

Re: Bricked My R8000

The thing is the router wont boot all the way to the point where I can send a command through Putty. It freezes as soon as it displays the CPU info. Is there a command line I can set in Putty that automically executes as soon as the router is turned on?

Re: Bricked My R8000

You could open the router and access the serial port on the router's circuit there are videos on youtube where and how access with usb to serial connection from your computer, even how to reflash the router using the same connection.

Re: Bricked My R8000

I already did that as I explained previously. The Putty output stops after displaying the CPU info and I can't enter any commands.
