C6900 with nighthawk mesh system
can someone please help me and confirm that I can use the netgear nighthawk wifi6 mesh system, even though I have he netgear (combo modem/router) c6900? Is there a trick to using the nighthawk as the router please, or once I plug in it should be good to go? Thanks for any help!

What Mesh system do you have in mind?

You do not want to have two routers on your network. It can cause headaches. For example, you can end up with local address problems. Among other things, the other router can misdirect addresses that the Netgear router usually handles, such as routerlogin.net or the usual IP address for a router, 192.168.1.1.
This explains some of the other drawbacks.
What is Double NAT? | Answer | NETGEAR Support
Unless you have specific reasons for using two routers – to create two separate networks for example – it is often easier to use just one router and then to set up the second router as a wifi access point. Netgear advises this, as does just about every site you will visit.
It may be possible to put the modem/router into modem only (bridge) mode and then to use the second device as the router. Sometimes it is easier to put the second router into AP mode. But that has its own drawbacks:
Disabled Features on the Router when set to AP Mode | Answer | NETGEAR Support
A lot of people use an Orbi system in AP mode, especially if they have a decent router in front of it. Only you know which of your two routers provides the best features for your needs.

Re: C6900 with nighthawk mesh system
IF you get any RBK Orbi system, you can use it with your current modem/router, it would be recommended to configured the C6900 for modem only mode, then connect the RBK Orbi system to the modem. This will avoid having two routers online at the same time.
Please visit the Orbi AC or AC forums for more information on Orbi systems:

Good Luck.

In the case of the C6900 they call this "bridge mode", not to be confused with other "bridge" modes..
Visit the support pages:
Support | NETGEAR
Feed in your model number and check the documentation for your hardware.
Check the section in the manual Cable Your Modem Router to a Router and Use Bridge Mode.
When it comes to which Mesh system, Orbi is one option but there are also Nighthawk Mesh systems.

Yes Mike, I'm aware of this and how it works since having a C an CAX series modems already. However, when you look at the modems web pages you may not see bridge mode. You may See Router mode = Yes or No on some modem UIs.

That is why I checked the manual and provided a link to the appropriate section in that. In this way the user did not have to dig around looking for "modem mode" or "modem only mode", phrases that are not in the manual.
When dealing with questions like this, I put myself in the user's shoes and try to remove any unexplained specialist jargon. It reduces the likelihood that they will have to come back later with more questions.
It is not what I know that matters, but what the user may not know.

Sounds good. Please tag in the user instead of me then. I'm already aware and of course with try to be more detailed when I can.
Thank you.
