The box for CM1000 cable modem has - Only DOCSIS 3.1 modem enable 1 GBPS cable internet service.
I have a dumb question. If my Comcast internet speed plan is over 1 gbps will this modem cap my speed at 1 gbps?

yes. Its ethernet port is only rated to 1gig so you'll max out with 1 gig.
