Can't Access R7000

Weird issue. I've setup my router and have internet connectivity, both wired and wireless, through the router. But I can't access the router dashboard. It doesn't matter if I have a wired connection or wireless, if I go to www.routerlogin.net or the IP address (192.168.1.1.) I get the same message and screen from Netgear: "You are not connected to your Router's WiFi network. To access . . . etc."

I don't understand it. It's pretty weird. Do I just need a firmware update?

Re: Can't Access R7000

What is your ISP Mfr and model# modem you have?

Possible that the NG router change it's IP address due to the ISP Modem having the same IP address.

Do a IPCONFIG /all in a command line box to see what IP address is listed for your device and Gateway IP address.

My Setup Internet Cable 1000↓/50↑ CAX80 Mode Mode | ISP SparkLight | Wifi Router Orbi CBR752 v4.6.7.7(Gateway Mode), Wired BackhaulSwitches Netgear GS105/8 |

Additional NG HW: C7800/CM1100/CM1200/CM2000, Orbi CBK40, CBR750, RBK953(v6.0.3.68) & XR450(v130), RBK853 v4.6.7.5(AP) & RBK752 v4.6.7.5, RBK50(v23), SXK30(v110), R7000(v34), R7800(v84), R7960P(v84), RAXE500(v78), EX7500/EX7700, GS308v3 and WNHDE111

Re: Can't Access R7000

Default Gateway is still set to 192.168.1.1.and DNS is the same IP. The funny thing is, when I go to this IP, the browser tab actually says Netgear R7000 for a few seconds then disappears and brings up the stupid Netgear page saying it can't connect to the router. So something knows the router is there but won't let me connect.

Do a full browser clear cache. Try using a different brower, IE11, FF or Opera.

Re: Can't Access R7000

Can you do a factory reset on the router with it not connected to the ISP modem and see if you can access the routers web page at 192.168.1.1?

Re: Can't Access R7000

Did you have another router before the R7000?

Check you Windows Credentials on the Control Panel. It might have one for the router address and override the browser.

Re: Can't Access R7000

So here's the conclusion to this as everything is fine now. I couldn't log in with any of my PCs but I had internet. My wife tried to connect with her Mac and didn't have internet access so I thought "what the heck I'll try with her computer."  Lo and behold, it works fine and I did the whole setup with her computer. It was late so I didn't see if I could then get in with either of my computers.

Yes i I did have another router before this one. An old Belkin N300. But it's IP was 192.168.2.1.  so I wouldn't think that was the issue. Also all the computers I used including my wife's ,which ended up working, had connected to this old router so I don't see how that would have affected things.

Anyhow, solved for now. I'll be checking to see if I can login with my computers this evening. If I can't I'll be posting again here.

Re: Can't Access R7000

You probably have some type of Internet security software, like Kaspersky.  They are notorious for blocking access to your own router.

Re: Can't Access R7000

I recommend removing any other routers before the R7000 and connect it directly to the ISP Modem. ISP modem is recommended to be just a modem, not have a built in router.

Glad you got it working. Enjoy. Smiley Wink
