I am on a wired connection. When I try to login, I get an access denied page and am directed to a password recovery page. I provide the serial number and secret question answers and am told that recovery is successful. I hit the login again tab and I get looped back to the access denied page. Can't get out of the loop.
On a wireless connection with another computer, I can login. But when I try to update firmware from this computer, the new firmware download stalls about halfway through. After a few minutes, I get a message that says no new firmware available and I loop back to the page that says new firmware is available.

You're talking about the web-browser interface to the router?

What did you use as the user name and the password? (Or is your
browser filling in bad data automatically?) The password-recovery loop
problem seems to be reported with some frequency.

What did you use as the user name and the password in that case?

"try to update firmware" is not a very detailed description of what
you're doing. I'll guess that you're using the semi-automatic firmware
update procedure. You might do better using a more manual method:
Visit http://netgear.com/support , put in your model number, and look
for Downloads. Under Firmware and Software Downloads, find the kit(s).
Download the kit you want. Read the "Release Notes" file (available on
the web page, and included in the kit) for instructions.
Netgear does recommend using a computer with a wired connection for
this, so, if you can figure out why you can't get in from your
(unspecified) web browser on your (unspecified) wired computer, then I'd
A quick Google search for terms like:
site:community.netgear.com r6700v2 firmware update
seems to find many recent complaints.
