Can't get wif to closely match internet plan

Modem: NETGEAR Cable Modem CM700

Router: NETGEAR Nighthawk Smart WiFi Router (R6900P)

 

Currently I have Xfinity 600 Mbps plan (75 MBps). I am getting wifi download speeds of 220 Mbps on average. Expectantly I do get 680 Mbps via Ethernet, so even though the cap for the CM700 says 500 Mbps download speed on Amazon, it does exceed that threshold rather significantly.

 

Previously my internet plan was Xfinity 200 Mbps and I was getting consistent 210 Mbps on wireless connection. But having 600 Mbps made no difference and the router is stated to have twice the capabilities I am aiming for (albeit lab conditions), so there should be plenty of leeway.

 

I've been through two phone calls and resets with Xfinity IT Specialists and it has not changed my wifi one bit. I've even done a factory reset on the router (7 seconds on the reset button) and no change. I did the factory reset on my own and not with a specialist with Netgear, because it's impossible for me to reach anyone at Netgear.

 

Even though I believe I've done my due diligence, if there's something I could do that I need to be aware of then I'd appreciate it very much. And if this is normal behaviour, can I get clarifications on why the wireless speeds for the R6900P are labeled as twice the digits I am trying to achieve?

Have you tried to adjust the wireless channels on the router?

Mhm. as far as my area goes, I am using channel 157 that doesn't appear to be used by anyone else at roughly -50 dBm, albeit there does appear to be 2 xfinity wifi spots between me at 153 (~ -77 dBm) and 161 (~ -84 dBm).

Im having the same issues, modem not providing speeds to match internet plan of 600mbps.  Ive switched channels as well and no difference.  Comcast tech just visited property, changed out lines and still no improvement.  Pulled out a comcast modem and router and speeds jumped to almost 500.  Why would this model represent that it could handle up to 1.4 Gbps which equaling 1.4mbps but cant exceed 200mbps.  Im also using a netgear wifi router AC1750 which claims 1300mbps.  What options do I have?

I have had an Arris cable Modem and Nighthawk 7000P for a long toime with a 200 Mb plan from Comcast. I recently upgraded to an 800 Mb plan to get the upload speed upgraded and decided to take advantage of the download so bought an CM700. I have been on the phone for hours with Netgear and Comcast but only have 260 Mb on average connected directly to the CM700 with my laptop. I was told to take the foirst one back to bestBuy and the second one does the same thing. I get tome out errors in the log and Mimo not working. I have a 1 gig nic card in my laptop windows 10. The nic does not support Mimo but shouldn't I still get somewhere close to my 800 Mb
