Can't make r6080 an access point.

Hi,

I have an Arris Surfboard SBG10 as my main cable modem and router It only has 2 ethernet ports and the rest of the devices connect wirelessly.  I have 2 Netgear routers, an R6020, and an R6080. When I try to connect the netgear routers (either one) I cannot seem to connect to them to set them up as access points,  I am trying to use one of the routers to set up my home network but cant get internet through them with external devices. The main router is set up as 192.168.0.1, and when I connect the router they usually connect as 192.168.0.10.  I have spent about 4 or 5 hours trying to figure this out, and have read multiple discussions on this forum, and I am just stuck.

Please help.

 Thanks!

   "try"?  "seem"?

None of that is a useful problem description.  It does not say what
you did.  It does not say what happened when you did it.  As usual,
showing actual actions (commands) with their actual results (error
messages, LED indicators, ...) can be more helpful than vague
descriptions or interpretations.

I don't know what that means, either.  What, exactly, did you connect
to what?  (Hint: If a device has different types of ports, then
"connected to device" is not enough detail.)

"can[']t or "cannot" is not a useful problem description.  See
"useful problem description [...]", above.

Where, exactly did you get that address?

That tells me exactly nothing about what you did, or what happened
when you did it.

   Thanks for the helpful links.

Visit http://netgear.com/support , put in your model number, and look
for Documentation.  Get the User Manual (at least).  Read.  Look for a
topic like "Use the Router as a WiFi Access Point Only".
