Can't register for DDNS

When I try to register for the DDNS service provided by Netgear, I get this error:

Unable to reach the DDNS server, please check your Internet connection or try again later

Even more laughably, when I try to get phone support I get this message:

An unexpected error occurred while handling the request. Please press back and re-try.

I don't so much care about the tech support message, because I guess I am used to expecting crappy service. But what can I do to fix the DDNS registration?
