Cannot log in to my router Nighthawk R7000

Just buoght and trying to install a Nighthawk AC1900 Model R7000 Wifi & cable router.  When I try to login to configure the router with www.routerlogin.net I get back the message "This page can't be displayed".  Why does this happen?  Does anyone have a solution or work-around.  ( I need to confiure to get my LAN back up and running. )

Thanks in advance.

Thanks for your reply MichaelKenWard.

Yes, assiduously.  The instruction booklet is wrong on how to login to the router.  I picked up from the web to not use 'www.routerlogin.net' but to go in directly via 'http://192.168.1.1/start.htm'.  That worked.

I'm very critical of Netgear sending out incorrect information in the installation guide, therefore.  It wasted almost day of precious time, can't imagine how many others have also been misled.

Thanks again.

Did you follow the order for turning things on specified in the Installation guide?

Not wrong, but incomplete. It works for most people.

These are the common ways in:

http://www.routerlogin.com/

and

http://www.routerlogin.net

If they don't work, then the IP address might be an option. Here the usual suspects are:

http://192.168.0.1

or

http://192.168.1.1

The last of these is actually in the manual for the R7000, on page 20.

Even that is not complete. It depends on the topography of your network and what is in charge of various functions, which is why the order of doing things is important.

That's why there are so many messages around on the theme of "Cannot login to router".

You have cut to the chase quicker than most. (No need to resort to the "ipconfig" route.) The number of variables means that some people take much longer. Well done.

If you mark your own solution as Solved you can help people who turn up later with the same challenge.
