I’ve got an AC1750 and have been compromised. Will a new router help me here and just what model in the $100 range is actually safe? Or am I gonna have to go much higher?

I suppose that it's possible, but I'd probably worry (much) more about your (unspecified) "my computer", and the ways that you use it, than about any of your networking equipment.
I've got the R6400, sorry I thought AC stood for the for model, not a expert here. But, this thing hasn't updated or has any updates that I've found for months. By me saying I've been Comprimised, I mean my bank accounts has been dipped into. I use my computer for buying things online. What I want to know if this router can be the cause and someone can hack into my accounts because this routers not safe?

The firmware is V1.0.1.62_1.0.41 The big reason I’m thinking this unit needs replaced is because I’ve talked to friends who’ve said I needed to change out. I’ve tried to update and I get the message that there’s no update for firmware.

"tried"? How, exactly?
Visit http://netgear.com/support , put in your model number, and look for Downloads. (For older versions, under Firmware and Software Downloads, look for "View Previous Versions".) Find the kit(s). Download the kit(s) you want. Read the "Release Notes" file for instructions. (In the User Manual, look for "firmware", and, especially, for a topic like "Manually Upload Firmware to the Router".)
