Disabling DHCP

I have been trying to disable DHCP on my Orbi (RBR750) so I can use my NetComm NF18ACV modem/router to allocate IP addresses to all devices. I'm having no end of trouble getting it working. The configuration settings aren't very clear. The Netcomm router is configured as a DHCP server with the IP range 192.168.20.x and it works perfectly. I have multiple devices connected to it both hard-wired and wireless. The Orbi is using the default configuration with DHCP turned on and the IP range 192.168.1.x.

I followed the instructions to disable DHCP, but after rebooting, I no longer had access to the Orbi. I tried various other settings, one of which resulted in an incompatible subnet mask error and eventually I had to do a factory reset on the Orbi. After several more attempts, the Orbi simply ceased to exist anywhere on the network, so I did another factory reset and gave up.

I'm sure this is possible and I'm hoping that someone here can give me a simple set of instructions as to what settings need to be configured in order to get this working. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Marc

Any reason why you don't want to use the RBR750 in access point mode? That would deal with the DHCP thing.

Then again, why use the modem/router to allocate IP addresses? Maybe there are other ways of dealing with that bit of the challenge.

So, start by describing the problem and there may be other solutions.

While many questions about routers are generic and could be answered anywhere, some things need specialist knowledge.

You might get more help, and find earlier questions and answers specific to your device, in the appropriate section for your hardware. That's probably here:
