Re: Feedback for R7000 New firmware 1.0.9.18

The new firmware (1.0.9.20) still has the same problem. All my android devices have no internet, on both 2.4 and 5G network. I have to revert back to the 1.0.9.14 version.

Re: Feedback for R7000 New firmware 1.0.9.18

Is 1.0.9.14 the last version we know didn't have this problem?  I'm hesitant to go back to a code level that leaves the router vulnerable to all of these attacks lately, though.

Re: Feedback for R7000 New firmware 1.0.9.18

It took almost 5 days, but I am once again dropping devices.  Not good.  My concerns now don't only have to do with the devices disconnecting, it has to do with speed and the constant changes users have to make to get running again.  I am so disappointed in Netgear right now. Already looking at new routers.  And they are not Netgear.

Re: Feedback for R7000 New firmware 1.0.9.18

How are people testing speed?  I'd like to be consistent with other tests.

Using http://speedtest.xfinity.com/, I'm getting ~30 down and ~6 up, which is in line with my plan.

That or something simular.  I get my rated speed on my wired connectin 400 MB, and on my wifi, even right next to router and on different channels 45-50 at the most!

Do we know for a fact that advanced tomato fixes all the problems and gives us back the speed that's expected?  I don't know the answer to this and I am very new to advanced tomato.  Thanks in advance for your response.

Re: Feedback for R7000 New firmware 1.0.9.18

@AtoZMy speeds are fine.  I have cable internet and I'm getting 115mbps Download and 5.88 Mbps Upload.  My cable internet max is 100 Mbps down and 6 Mbps Up so I'm not lacking speed.  I honestly believe there has been firmware in the past that has caused all these issues that may not be fixable.  The only difference between my router and everyone elses is that I have never had any other firmware on it other than .18 and I'm not experiencing these issues.  The one I had replaced was only 7 months old so the firmware causing this issue had to have been one released since then.  I just hope their firmware didn't permenantly damage everyones routers...

My speeds are about ~27 down and ~6 up which is consistent with the plan I have with my ISP.

Re: Feedback for R7000 New firmware 1.0.9.18

It's good that you're getting what you're paying for, but from a diagnostic perspective those speeds are too low to be relevant to identifying if you're having problems or not.

Re: Feedback for R7000 New firmware 1.0.9.18

Agreed.  It also reminds me I need to upgrade my modem, next time I see it go on sale.

I have more information though.  I had a continuous ping going to a Rainbird (lawn-irrigation) controller.  The last time I lost 2.4GHz, I couldn't ping that IP (ie, I couldn't initiate a ping).  Even though I lost 2.4GHz systems, the ping never dropped this time.  HOWEVER, I still couldn't connect to it.

Another odd thing I saw:  Prior to rebooting the router, I grabbed an arp -a from my laptop, then I did it again after the reboot.  One of my Google Home devices showed up with different mac addresses:

Re: Feedback for R7000 New firmware 1.0.9.18

Warning to all... Advanced Tomato has not, and likely will not fix the KRACK vulnerability in WPA2 anytime soon. If you care about the security of your network, it's not a good long term solution.

Re: Feedback for R7000 New firmware 1.0.9.18

Just purchased and installed my R7000 and my wifi speed is also horrible.  My normal max is around 60mbps, but now I am getting in 10-15 when on 2.4ghz .  I am 10 feet away from the router.  I can connect my phone (my only AC device) using 5 and get around 50mbps, but when I connect to my old Linksys Router I get 61mbps on both 2.4 and 5ghz.  Something is definitely not right.

QOS is off, Smart Control is off. devices are on different SSID (but same thing happens when they are on the same SSID)

What would cause this?

@JamesGL,

Problem continues. This morning I booted my wired PC. Checked with Windows Explorer the NETWORK. R7000 did NOT show again! Did a NET VIEW and got these results:

===================

C:\>net view
System error 1231 has occurred.

The network location cannot be reached. For information about network troublesho

That first error is kind of strange.  Web searches for it did not help... Why did NET VIEW work when I used the IP Address?

To RULE out W10 as a problem, I just rebooted the R7000 and NOT W10 which is what I did yesterday. Now everything worked?

I'm pretty sure now this is an R7000 flash problem.

Rif.: Feedback for R7000 New firmware 1.0.9.18

After installing the firmware 1.0.9.18, I found that one device- Samsung Galaxy A3 was no more connected to internet.

It was connected to the internal LAN - respended properly to ping - but di dnot navigate.

Any troubleshooting action on the phone did not fix the problem.

Reverting to previous firmware 1.0.9.12 fixed the problem - without any other change - and the device could again navigate properly

I started noticing that my phone was not accessing the internet even though it showed connected to wifi.  I login into the router and see that my connected devices go from 30 to 12-15 and once I refesh the view it is back to the 30 connected and when I look at the log I seem to be seeing a lot more DHCP renewals than before.

Ok - turned off guest networks (2.4G and 5G) - been totally stable for 36 hrs now- so fingers crossed and certainly a lot better than previously

Still have all 2.4 and 5G devices connected whereas that hasn't been the case for several weeks

Re: Feedback for R7000 New firmware 1.0.9.18

I have been struggling with this issue. Just to add another detail, Printing: I thought at first that I can no long print to my wifi printer(Canon) and my Brother laser attacted to the router. Nothing happen for 10 minutes but Finally both took off and printed. I have gone back to an older firmware and no chance. I am hoping that what one person in this discussion said they hope they didn’t damaged the router.

I am also thinking about Tomato. I’ve downloaded the Tomato and ready to install.

I will post to let you know how it worked out. It may be telling if I still have the same problem.

V1.0.9.18.1.2.27

Just purchased this router and updated to the latest firmware. Most of my devices worked without issue but two did have a problem that I eventually solved.

Roku 2 device was getting code 003 ( unable to resolve dns ) problems, apps not working etc.

Motorola G5S Plus Android 7.1 WiFi OK but no outside internet no-connection.

I tried everything until I decided to go to security -> access-control and 'turn on access control' 'Allow all devices to connect' Even though I am not blocking any devices just enabling this got the above devices working. I'm not sure why the default setting of not enabling access control would stop the above two devices working.
