Re: Feedback for R7000 New firmware 1.0.9.18
Hot fix just failed. Ridiculous. I will be at store tomorrow buying a new router...and it certainly won't be a Netgear. I'm out! Can't take the silence and the utter lack of professionalism and responsibility that has been shown by Netgear. I have been in IT and the technical trade for most of my life. I have never seen a company act like this. Tech support is awful, the silence is deafening. Good luck to all. Thank you so much for trying to help over the past 2 months or so.

Re: Feedback for R7000 New firmware 1.0.9.18
At this point your best bet is going back to the old but stable 1.0.7 release. Nobody has had consistent results on anything after that for speed and stability.

Re: Feedback for R7000 New firmware 1.0.9.18
Agreed, hotfix was worse than the 1.0.9.18 and caused constant dropouts. I've downgraded to 1.0.7.
I'll see how that goes.

Re: Feedback for R7000 New firmware 1.0.9.18
So, after being reasonably stable on 1.0.9.14 today my router decided it was done being cooperative in any fashion. After A DOZEN REBOOTS throughout the day, I downgraded to 1.0.7.12 and then back up to 1.0.9.12, just to see. Well, now it's hung again. It took less than an hour.
Interesting thing .. wireless does not work (2.4GHz or 5GHz) UNLESS YOU WERE ALREADY ATTACHED. A computer that has a session with Office365 is still working with Office over WiFi, but you can't go to any new sites (you get a DNS error). No new WiFi devices can attach. Disabling a device's WiFi and re-enabling means you won't be able to attach!
Oh, I'm on with an ethernet cable right now. I can access the Internet, but I cannot access the login or debug pages of the router!
I'm done with this. I'm going to downgrade to 1.0.7.12 shortly, hopefully just to stabilize the problem. Then I'm ordering another vendor's router (hopefully I can find it in a local store).
I will no longer recommend Netgear to anyone. The 2 people who bought Netgear routers in the last 2 weeks on my recommendation are going to get the advice to return them. My group of friends all have the R7000 -- probably about 10 of us. Anyone who upgraded in the last 6 months is having this issue. That's 10 people who won't buy Netgear again. That's 10 people who won't RECOMMEND Netgear again. We are all tech people. That's A LOT OF BAD PRESS FOR YOU, NETGEAR.
Bye.

Re: Feedback for R7000 New firmware 1.0.9.18
So add me to the list of people having consistent discconect issues with firmware 1.0.9.18.
I was rebooting the router multiple times a day.
I finally got around to downgrading to 1.0.7 as recommended on this thread and all seems stable for the past 4-5 hours.

Re: Feedback for R7000 New firmware 1.0.9.18
If we assume the codebase is mostly shared across models, this means if you are having trouble you might want to look for firmware releases for your model that happened around March 2017. Be aware that downgrading may introduce security issues that were fixed in later firmwares, change product features, and remove automatic update functionality, meaning in future you will have to remember to manually update to a newer version again.
I'd like to take a moment amongst the negativity to thank Netgear engineering for allowing downgrades, which is not the case with all manufacturers, because without this ability the problem would be much worse. I hope this is kept in mind in future 😉

Re: Feedback for R7000 New firmware 1.0.9.18
The only difference with this version is that the 2.4GHz come back in running after ~5 minutes without any manipulation!
It's not acceptable, but a little bit better.
Netgear guys, are you in task force?

Re: Feedback for R7000 New firmware 1.0.9.18
Speed test using the FCC app using my Table (Asus 10 3S) and Phone (Moto g4 Plus) with Tomato firmware. Please let me know if something seems peculiar.
Tablet:
2.4ghz Download . . . 32.15Mbps
Upload . . . . . 7Mbps
Latency . . . . 22ms
packet loss 1.75%
5g Download . . . 114.56Mbps Highest I've ever seen usauly about 76Mbps
Upload . . . . . 6.85Mbps
Latency . . . . 28ms
packet loss 0.00%
Phone:
2.4ghz Download . . . 38.91Mbps
Upload . . . . . 4.23Mbps
Latency . . . . 65ms
packet loss 0.68%
5g Download . . . 97.80Mbps Highest I've ever seen usauly about 76Mbps
Upload . . . . . 3.89Mbps
Latency . . . . 37ms
packet loss 0.00%
Just turning on QOS will drop the speeds in half without any fine tuning.
I have the laser printer working through the usb on windows 10 but not with linux.(help)

Great results! Don't see anything peculiar. If I was running linux i could help you troubleshoot that printer issue you're having, sorry 😞

Re: Feedback for R7000 New firmware 1.0.9.18
Unfortunately, in my case, I am back at work again and I need a stable home network, plus the most likely devices to drop off we're brought by visiting relatives who left again already, so it's fairly tough to spend more and more time on this.
At this point I am hopeful that they're reaching out to others who can reproduce the issue easily to work with them. I've offered to do what I can, but that's limited, at least during the week.

I am running that version also. And I have guest on. I haven't had any issues for 3 days now which is record since this BS started.

Re: Feedback for R7000 New firmware 1.0.9.18
I just want a) a response from Netgear to say they are at least working on it and b) a workaround...for example, is 1.0.7 the best we can do? Is that flawlessly working for everyone?

Netgear are a big old company...I'm sure they should be communicating "somehow".
