I need to update firmware. I cannot do it now with netgear genie. I found that my ISP must perform the update. Just wanted to confirm before I contact them. Am I correct? Is there anything I need to be aware of before I contact them?

You have the wnr2000v5?
If so, the isp doesn't update it, you do.

Don't take this the wrong way but if you truly have a wnr2000v5, its more expensive to buy support than it is to buy a new one.
Its pretty easy to update the firmware.

I get to step 8 in the instructions:
When I enter the router admin user name and password I get an error message that the server does not support the operation requested by your client. I have tried the default address 192.168.1.1 but that does not work either.
Any ideas how I get around that?

step 8 is the password/login info for the router.
Does the password/login info screen pull up?
But when you enter the password info, it says not supported?

I didn't change the password. I am using the defaults.
I did run across something. I might need to clear the cashe in the firefox browser.
That might take me a little time to figure out.
