What error is that? What do the LEDs on your ageing (2013) router look like?

In particular tell us what the power LED shows.

What happened when you tried?

Hard to say much more with so little information from you.

How to upload firmware to a NETGEAR router using Windows TFTP | Answer | NETGEAR Support

This also explains how to enable TFTP on a Windows PC.

TFTP isn't the easiest operation, so if you are forced to use it try a web search for videos that guide you through the process.

For example:

Different device, but the approach is the same.

Re: Firmware error update

Well, I am going to try to explain it.

I try to update the firmware inside the router system settings, I get this error "Incorrect firmware file. Get the firmware file again and make sure it is the correct one for this product" I also downloaded it and tried to do it manually also did not work. The firmware version I need to update is "Firmware version 1.0.0.34 (https://www.netgear.com/support/product/WNR2500.aspx#download) "

Now I was trying with tftp but I didn't get it, I followed all the steps shown on this page but I don't know what I'm doing wrong. https://kb.netgear.com/000059634/How-to-upload-firmware-to-a-NETGEAR-router-using-Windows-TFTP

Well I've been trying almost everything for a week now but well, I don't think I can update it.

> Well I've been trying almost everything for a week now [...]

Think, for a moment, about how little useful information that
non-description conveys to the non-psychics in your audience.

> [...] I get this error "Incorrect firmware file. [...]

Ok.  _Which_ file is the "Incorrect firmware file"?  Has it a name?

> Model: WNR2500|N450 Wireless Router

A firmware image file for that model should be something like
"WNR2500-V1.0.0.34NA.img".  With my weak psychic powers, I can't see
which file you're actually trying to load into the router.

> Now I was trying with tftp but I didn't get it, [...]

"trying" or "didn't get it" is not a useful description of anything.

None of that is a useful problem description.  It does not say what
you did.  It does not say what happened when you did it.  As usual,
showing actual actions (commands) with their actual results (error
messages, LED indicators, ...) can be more helpful than vague
descriptions or interpretations.

Trying to use TFTP to force an "Incorrect firmware file" into the
thing is almost certainly a very bad idea.

> [...] I don't think I can update it.

From your "descriptions", I can't tell what you did, which makes it
hard to offer much specific advice.
