Firmware update D7000v2

Hi,

I'm trying to do a firmware update to the latest version (v 1.0.70)

I can download the zip file, but when I try to upload it to my laptop is says it can't because it isn't a *chk file

Please help!

Many thanks,

Lisa

Re: Firmware update D7000v2

You have to unzip/unpack the file - NETGEAR provides compressed files that have the firmware file, instruction and a README file. When you do that, you'll get the chk file which you can upload to the router

   Current firmware version?

   So, nothing like that?

That's not a real firmware version number.  Copy+paste is your
friend.  (Or take more care.)

What, exactly, did you download?  What, exactly, did you try to load
into your modem+router?  Did you read the instructions in the Release
Notes file?

True.  But it might help if you started with an appropriate firmware
kit.

The D7000[v1] and D7000v2 are two different devices, which use
different firmware.  "(v 1.0.70" seems to resemble "V1.0.1.70", which is
a D7000[v1] firmware version, not a D7000v2 firmware version.  Note that
the firmware image file for a D7000[v1] is a ".img" file, and for a
D7000v2 it's a ".chk" file.  Different.

_If_ you start with the right firmware kit.

Visit http://netgear.com/support , put in your (actual) model number,
and look for Downloads.  (For older versions, under Firmware and
Software Downloads, look for "View Previous Versions".)  Find the
kit(s). Download the kit(s) you want.  Read the "Release Notes" file
for instructions.
