Firmware update is .chk file, can't open on a Mac.

I have a Nighthawk R7000 router running firmware V1.0.9.88_10.2.88. I wanted to update it to the newest version. Downloaded the file but it's a .chk file, and have a Mac, which won't open it. How can I upgrade my firmware?

You don't "open" the firmware .chk file. You upload it to your router. Go to http://192.168.1.1 and in the Advanced -> Administration -> Firmware Update you can upload it

"Doctor, it hurts when I do this."

      "Don't do that."

Visit http://netgear.com/support , put in your model number, and look
for Downloads.  (For older versions, under Firmware and Software
Downloads, look for "View Previous Versions".)  Find the kit(s).
Download the kit(s) you want.  Read the "Release Notes" file for
instructions.

When the firmware Release Notes tell you to read the User Manual,
then, in the same neighborhood, look for Documentation.  Get the User
Manual.  Read.  Look for a topic like "Manually Upload Firmware to the
Router".

Thanks. Turned I tried your solution via Firefox, didn't work. I was told "your router doesn't seem to be connected to the internet." No? Well how the hell else am I connected to the internet?!

Anwyay, closed Firefox, tried the same on Safari. Took me right through to the right page(s). Turned out I my Firmware is current. Firefox, duh....
