Site for the fix http://kb.netgear.com/000036386/CVE-2016-582384?cid=wmt_netgear_organic. As directed, I downloaded this fix on my Mac mini with OSX operating system. I get a message saying Safari can't open it and it advises me to download an App (OSX) that will. ??? What app would that be? Arghh!
Thanks
Richard

Clearly Safari on your Mac is configured to automatically open files after they are downloaded (the default behaviour).
You don't open the firmware image on your Mac. Once the file is downloaded you browse to
or if you prefer to http://ip.address.of.router e.g. http://192.168.1.1
and upload the firmware image you downloaded following the instructions in the Release Notes.
I uploaded the beta firmware image for my R7000 using Safari on my Mac and it worked fine for me.
Not that you should need it now, but for future reference there are multiple different browsers you can try in addition to Safari e.g. Chrome, Firefox, Opera etc.
Edit: Ah, I see this was already answered here

Re: Fix for VU#582384
Thanks for your help on this. I finally used Opera to accomplish this and was successful.
