Get a reverse DNS record

I ran the test ipv6-test and it told me I need to "Get a reverse DNS record." How do I go about this?

   Why?  Should anyone know what "the test ipv6-test" means to you, or

how you "ran" it on what?  I certainly have no idea.

   Did it (whatever "it" might be) say why?  Again, a little context
might help.  Is that the actual message, of your interpretation of the
actual message?  Copy+paste is your friend.

   No idea.  Don't know what it means.  Is there some actual problem
which you are trying to solve?

   This is a Netgear forum.  Are you using some Netgear device?

Re: Get a reverse DNS record

Sorry for not giving more information. Yes I am using Netgear devices. I'm am trying to fix an isssue with a game I get disconnected from. One suggestion was to use IPv6 instead of IPv4 so there is no issues with NATs. So I went about changing some settings and turning on IPv6.

I used this site http://ipv6-test.com/ before and after my changes to see if my changes worked. It seems to have worked, but lastly they suggested this:

There is no reverse DNS record to associate your IPv6 address with a host name. Reverse DNS records are required by some Internet protocols and are usually managed at the ISP level.

Yes, but what are they?

Does the hardware support IPv6? Does your ISP support IPv6?

Just another user.

My network DM200 -> R7800 -> GS316 -> PL1000 -> Orbi RBR40 -> Orbi RBS50Y -> RBS40V

Re: Get a reverse DNS record

Commonly the end users are not the owners of the IPv6 pool assigned, so it's up to the ISP to configure a reverse DNS record. Considering the large number of IPv6 addresses in each commonly assigned prefix does make that plan almost impossible however. Unlikely the absence of a reverse DNS record isn't the cause of the game issue.
