Help Choosing the right router for new home
Hoping someone can help me select the correct router for my new home. Here is a breif overview of our current setup, but I am seeking to improve it.
ISP - Spectrum
Speed Test (on iphone, in the basement 1 room away from modem = 2g 33mbps 5 g =213mps
House is 3300 sq/ft and 4 stories. There is a ubiquity WAP on the 4th floor, second floors is wired for another WAP, but has not been installed.
Items using wifi; 14 LIFX Bulbs, 4 Arlo Cameras, 10 Sonos Speakers, Various Amazon Echos/dots, a couple august door locks, garage door montior, a few nest products and im sure some things im not thinking of. TV's are wired into ethernet ports.
Anyways, I am trying to decide if i should install another WAP on the second floor or upgrade from spectrums standard router...or maybe both?
I need at least 6 Ethernet ports would prefer 7 or 8. Also, for whatever reason, most of the electronics i have will only connect to a 2g network. Im dont think i even have anything on the 5G, because only my computer and smart phone are compatiable.
Anyone have any suggestions? I hate to drop another 100 on a WAP if a better router will improve performance. My spectrum plan is 400Mbps, either not anywhere near that or my electronics are sucking power from my 2g. Im fairly a novice with internet set up, so if anyone could make a recommendation I would appriciate it. I have had good experiences with netgear in the past, so would like to stay within the brand.
