How to set R6400v2 so it take internet from android phone mobile hotspot

Hi all,

I recently moved to a place that does not have conventional ISP connection (xfinity, comcast, etc).

So i have been using my phone to tether for internet connection.

I have a R6400v2 router and I am wondering if it is possible for the router to draw the internet from my android mobile hotspot (lg or samsung phones) and then connect all other devices (laptop, smart speakers, etc) from that same router.

I tried setting up the bridge mode by following these two guides to no avail:

https://kb.netgear.com/24105/What-is-bridge-mode-and-how-do-I-set-it-up-on-my-Nighthawk-router

https://kb.netgear.com/20831/How-to-set-up-Bridge-mode-on-R6300-R6250-R6200

When I followed the steps on https://kb.netgear.com/20831/How-to-set-up-Bridge-mode-on-R6300-R6250-R6200, after the router reboot, I do not see the Netgear wifi on the list of available wifi to connect.

I read somewhere in one of the thread that after bridging, then the router will dedicate its wireless capability to connect to the assigned hotspot, does that mean I need another router to plug into my r6400v2 and that new router will be the one I can connect all my devices?

In other words, if I make my router in bridge mode, my router will use its wireless connection to get the internet from the mobile hotspot and thus it cannot at the same time project its connection wirelessly to other devices. Hence I can only either connect from the router using ethernet, or connect another router to the bridge router first.

or perhaps a more basic question first, is it possible to do what I want to do with just my android mobile hotspot and the r6400v2, or do i need additional equipment?

Thanks for any help

What hotspot do you have?

Some have an integrated ethernet port you can connect to a router.

options if it doesn't?

1. A wireless repeater could work. the R6400 doesn't have that mode.

2. Travel router or regular router  with Wisp mode. wisp mode allows you to use a wireless connection as a WAN connection.
