I have succesfully set up the Nighthawk 63 wifi in my house and would like to shut off the old inferior router that came with the modem.
Is this easily done? The Nighthawk was a breeze to install.
Thanks,

No need to go anywhere else in this community, if that is what you planned. That bit of pointless boilerplate text just wastes time and confuses everyone.
Your question is generic and applies to any router, regardless of the label on the side.
The solution is usually to do search for "[model number] bridge mode".
Not all modem/routers have this feature. (Thinks BT's horrible HomeHub in the UK.)
Looks like you may be in luck:
Centurylink C3000Z bridge mode - Google Search
I assume that the 3000Z in your subject is C3000Z.

Re: How to turnoff the Centurylink 3000Z router option of Modem router combo?
Do a search online for the model modem and bridge mode. Or contact the ISP for help regarding there product.
Netgear has set up a community forum specifically for the NightHawk MESH products. Most of the people who watch that forum are more likely to have experience with NH MESH products and know how to work it better than those of us who follow this router forum. Might be more likely to find someone who has a solution if the question is posted there:

Please use this link to the main forum product list to review and choose where to make your posts.

Thank you.
