Re: I have a N450 and want to hookup a AC1900 as a AP

Did you set AP mode on the AC1900?

You need to connect the AC1900 via LAN to LAN. Don't use the WAN port on the AC1900.

Look at the N450s connected client table to see what IP address the AC1900 gets. Connect to this IP address to access the AC1900s web page.

When I plug the AC1900 into Internet jack I can see it show up on my N450 as 10.0.0.19 I tried to use explorer to enter it, it just sends me out to the internet. When I plug it into Lan 1 it does not show up on the N450.

Re: I have a N450 and want to hookup a AC1900 as a AP

Disconnect from N450 for now. Connect a wired LAN cable PC to the AC1900 and go in and set the operation mode from Router mode to AP mode. There is a section of the router where you should see Router, AP or maybe wireless Bridge mode. Select AP mode. Save settings, It should reboot automatically. While it reboots, reconnect the LAN cable from the N450 to the AC1900 LAN port. Keeping the PC connected to the AC1900, it should now be able to connect to the N450s web page. Check again in the connected clients table for the AC1900 IP address. It should see the AC1900 AP mode this time.

Re: I have a N450 and want to hookup a AC1900 as a AP

Got it working 😞 but not what I thought I was doing ! LOL I can plug my laptop into it and the Internet is working........ But not the wifi..So the wifi is only receiving the internet and sending it out over wired lan.

What I am trying to do is shut off the WIFI on my N450 so I can have better WIFI on the AC1900 transmitting

Yes, all you need to do now is to turn OFF the radios on the N450 router.

Do you have the AC1900 set up and configured for wifi? Using same SSID name or different?

Re: I have a N450 and want to hookup a AC1900 as a AP

What a pain trying to login ! It keeps sending me to N450

Hooked up a laptop still couldnt login had to unplug the N450 still couldnt login. I finally got in by powering up the N450 then quickly get into R7000

Yes I have in the advanced settings wifi on with my network name and password....but under Basic settings it shows wifi OFF and the wifi button is greyed out so I cant turn it on 😞

Re: I have a N450 and want to hookup a AC1900 as a AP

You have to connect to the new IP address thats given to the AC1900. Look at the N450 routers client table to see what IP address the AP is getting. Log into the APs web page using that IP address. Not 192.168.1.1.

Besure your using IE11 or FF browser and logging into the AP as admin with the admin pw.
