Internet light is

Internet light is

I have internet to the modem and can bypass the router to my MacBook. The router lights are on and it is broadcasting. However, the internet light is red/amber and flashing or is on continuously. I have used different ethernet cables to see if my cable had gone bad, but nothing changes. Some other things:

1. I cannot access the router via routerlogin.net.

2. I have powered it down and reset it.

I don't know what else to do.

Open to any suggestions.

Thanks,

Steve

Re: Internet light is

Remembered to use the Netgear Nighthawk app and apparently needed to reconfigure the router. Everything is working fine.

What, exactly, is your (unspecified) "the modem"?  What, exactly, is
connected to what, exactly?  (Hint: If a device has different types of
ports, then "connected to device" is not enough detail.)  Is more than
one device connected to your (unspecified) "the modem"?

History?  Is this a new installation, or some kind of change to a
previously working installation, or what?

Which "The router lights"?  "on"?  Color?  Activity?

Visit http://netgear.com/support , put in your model number, and look
for Documentation.  Get the User Manual (at least).  Read.  Look for the
LED descriptions and "Troubleshoot".  Further reading might not hurt,
either.

   "internet"?  Not Power?

> 1. I cannot access the router via routerlogin.net.

"access" from what?  Connected how?  Does the computer/device where
you're doing this get a valid IP address?

"cannot" is not a useful problem description.  It does not say what
you did.  It does not say what happened when you did it.  As usual,
showing actual actions (commands) with their actual results (error
messages, LED indicators, ...) can be more helpful than vague
descriptions or interpretations.

> 2. I have powered it down and reset it.

"reset it" how, exactly?  Look for "Reset" in the User Manual.  What,
exactly, happened when you did whatever you did?

> I don't know what else to do.

I don't know what you've done so far.

The modem is a Motorolla Surfboard SB6141 cable modem

This has been my WIFI setup for several years. My provider recently changed from Northland to Vye Broadband but it was never a problem. Talking to the provider lately, there was an outage due to a software glitch on their side. That has been resolved.

Which "The router lights"?  "on"?  Color?  Activity?

The following lights are white: power, 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, and the two lights at the far right... WPS and broadcast button

The internet light is the only red one.

Already did this and didn't find anything helpful that I hadn't already tried. That is why I came here.

There is power

I cannot log into the the router menu.

When I tried to log into the router settings, it says that i am not connected to the internet.

I pushed the reset button the back of the router. The only thing that happed was that it appeared to power down and restart -- no change.

I don't know what you've done so far.

Ok.  Simple modem.  Should be harmless.  Especially if a computer
which is connected directly to it works as expected.

So, this stuff all worked as expected, until one day when it didn't?

> >    "cannot" is not a useful problem description. [...]

You don't seem to be paying attention.

"tried" _how_, exactly?  You put some URL or other into some web
browser or other, on some computer/device or other, which was connected
somehow or other, to something or other?  Did you try specifying the
router's default LAN IP address (192.168.1.1) there?

You don't need an Internet connection to talk to your own (local)
router.  Hence it's not clear why you'd get that message.  And "tried"
explains nothing.

>    "access" from what?  Connected how?  Does the computer/device where

   All still mysteries.

> I pushed the reset button the back of the router. [...]

"pushed" for how long?  Look for "Reset" in the User Manual.

> There is power

If lights are glowing, then I wasn't in any doubt about power.  The
question was about which LED you meant.

> I don't know what you've done so far.

   Still largely true.

Relevant how?  Look for "Model" on the product label of the _router_.

Maybe in the future, rather than trying to make people feel small and stupid, perhaps treat people with a little respect. Ask questions and help people feel like this is a place to learn and get answers rather than a place where people come to be made to feel stupid by trolls.
