Is the R6900 a good choice? Will it be supported like the R7000?

Hello.  Basically after reading about these two, it sounds like they are the same except the R6900 just has one USB port and is only sold at Costco.  Right now it is on sale for $139 which is about $40 cheaper than the R7000.  The only thing I noticed when I went to the support pages for each of them is that the R7000 has a bunch of firmware updates and the R6900 only has 2.  Should I be concerned about this not being supported like the R7000?

Or is the R6400 good enough?  RIght now, the only things that use WiFi are the smartphones and my work laptop.  My desktop is wired as well as my TV for streaming.  I might hook up something to the second tv for streaming but that should get a great signal because it is in the basement not too far from where the router will be.

I would think number of units sold would drive FW development, that said I would go with the r7000.
