Just bought Netgear Nighthawk AC1900
I know very little about routers. What's the difference between the 2.5G and 5G other then the frequency? Should I be using one or the other for certain things? Xbox, laptop, tablets, cellphones?

Re: Just bought Netgear Nighthawk AC1900
2.4- longer range, more congestion if in busy city
not as fast as 5 ,not as many channels.
5- more channels less congestion shorter range faster.
Normally 5 best for Xbox but depends on where it is in house and size. Is ssid seperate or together.

Re: Just bought Netgear Nighthawk AC1900
@thehypnootoad is correct.
2.4ghz- much slower and more sensitive to interference
5ghz- much faster but shorter range
I usually recommend that people have higher bandwidth devices like streamers/gaming on 5ghz. lower speed devices like IoT, ereaders, etc should be on the lower 2.4ghz.
