My R8000 became very slow after upgraded to latest firmware v1.0.4.12
even it's cable connected, the speed is very slow. my internet connection is about 500M but at R8000 speed is only around 160M. before the latest firmware upgrade, the speed was over 300M.

Re: My R8000 became very slow after upgraded to latest firmware v1.0.4.12
If you poke around on this forum there's a decent amount of people having the same issue(s). It seems the last 2 FW updates are the culprit, but I just took the advice of others after reading and reverted back to 1.0.3.54.
Make sure you factory reset after the FW installation.
On a 1gig connection those FWs took my wired speed down to 240mb and wireless down to 30mb. After reverting I'm back in the 800-900mb+ range, wired, and near 500mb wireless. Much better.
Page 3 of this thread is what lead me try it.

Thanks for the advice. I've tested a few times today from the LAN side, after reverting, and they've all been 850+. Pretty confident that's at the modem too.
Have any tricks to see wireless at those rates? 😉
edit:
I'm good on wired. Test from LAN side of R8000

Here's the things that were changed in the FW's after:
All 3 have a "fixes security issues" heading in them, so yes that suggested firmware will have security issues. As to what they are, I couldn't say exactly.

Not sure if any Netgear's officials can respond to this issue here? I'm still waiting for permanent resolution.

Re: My R8000 became very slow after upgraded to latest firmware v1.0.4.12
So you've tested on a 1gb pipe, 1.03.54 with Circle on against Circle off, and compared those results to 1.0.4.x with Circle on and off?
It would nice if you could post your results.
