MyCloud slow with R7000

Hello,

So, I have a Nighthawk R7000 and I have a WD MyCloud 2TB. My problem is that when I copy stuff from my laptop (HP SpectreX360) to MyCloud it is super slow; around 3.8MB/s. I did some testing with a bunch of apps and they all gave around 3.8MB/s write and 28MB/s read.

The laptop is next to the router, connected through 5Ghz wifi and the MyCloud is wired to the router.

Any idea what I can do about it?

When I was doing these tests nothing else was connected to the router.

So, I can't connect to it wired since my laptop does not have an ethernet port. Don't really want to buy an adapter just for testing.

So, my router is 2m away from my laptop. My NAS is wired to the router and 1m away. Here are my scenarios after more investigation:

1. If I connect to the 2.4G network, I can write on the NAS with around 20MB/s and read with 20MB/s

2. If I connect to the 5G network, I can write on the NAS with around 2MB/s and read with 40MB/s

3. The internet connection on 2.4G is 60Mb/s

4. The internet connection on 5G is 90Mb/s

Now, this is conflicting and I am not sure why 🙂

My laptop is an HP Spectre x360 2017 version.
