Re: NEW R 7000 Firmware R7000-V1.0.3.60_1.1.27

With IPv6 enabled with this new firmware I still have internet slow downs over time. With it disabled I don't have any problems with slow down. I am on Comcast. I hope it gets fixed with the next update.

The next official release should have some fixes for Comcast IPv6. Have you reported this problem to Netgear?

How long does it take to see the slow downs that you're talking about? Are they wireless only, or wired only, or both?

Thanks.

TC93,

I'm using a R7000 in the UK and would really like to get hold of a suitable (EU) version of this firmware. I did the most recent update, and whilst it made Netflix etc more useable I am getting the dropping issue some reported except it's on *everything* wired and not wired. Only my PCs are ok, printer (wired), 3g booster (wired), phones (wireless) all drop off Wi-Fi frequently.

Re: NEW R 7000 Firmware R7000-V1.0.3.60_1.1.27

I updated and this firmware was really buggy.

updated from .56 and try to use the router as is. The connection was dropping. Then after a few reset to make sure it was good, the wifi just dropped all together. Never got it back. I had to save my settings as images and then hard reset my router.

After inputting the right settings everything looks fine. However a few devices never connected. Namely wireless-g devices. I had 2. 1 was my repeater bridge router. The other was my wifi printer.

I tried everything, reseting both the router and the printer and repeater bridge and nothing.

Eventually I went back to the 0.56 firmware and everything is stable again.

I guess I will have to wait again the next firmware. apparently .60 is too buggy.

Exactly same as mvly explained, I also went back to the 0.56 firmware and everything is ok. New .60 firmware is too buggy!!!!!

Netgear is notorious when come down to fixing problem or updating Firmware that realy work!!!and most of the times they never fix all of the problem!!!!!!!Why releasing new Firmware without enough or proper testing?I should stay with WNDR3800:confused:

I am still having random reboots after this firmware update. Anyone else experiencing this or found a fix for this problem? All I want right now is this for be to a stable router!

Re: NEW R 7000 Firmware R7000-V1.0.3.60_1.1.27

For reboots, there are a few quick approaches. One is to reflash the new firmware, do a reset to factory defaults, then manually re-enter your configuration settings.

Another is to flash an older version of the Netgear firmware that didn't have reboots (if there was one), and be sure to reset to factory defaults and manually re-enter your configuration settings after flashing.

Yet another to try is to look at dd-wrt firmware, which has been stable for some months for me, and for lots of others. If stability is a primary concern, I'd suggest trying the "OLDD" version first, which uses the older, more stable wireless drivers.

Re: NEW R 7000 Firmware R7000-V1.0.3.60_1.1.27

I have reset to factory default with every flash. I have flashed back to older firmwares, and have been getting the same problem with all of firmware it seems. Its like the router just reboots, all LAN and WiFi connections lost from ~15-45 seconds.

I flashed dd-wrt, but my speeds and latency (ping) were much slower according to speedtest.net Perhaps I have the wrong settings in. But the speed was even slower on LAN as well. Stability is definitely the biggest concern but I took a huge hit in speed from 40Mbps on stock, to 10Mbps on DD-WRT through WiFi. Through LAN, 40Mbps on stock, to 19 Mbps on DD-WRT. Is this the kind of drop-off you have gotten with DD-WRT?

Re: NEW R 7000 Firmware R7000-V1.0.3.60_1.1.27

How's your warranty? No, I don't see that kind of drop off with dd-wrt, and the reboots that you describe make me very suspicious that you may have gotten a defective unit. I haven't had a spontaneous reboot, ever.

If I were you, I'd talk with Netgear support, and aim for an RMA.

Also, just out of curiosity, when you flashed dd-wrt and set it up, did you follow Kong's wireless setup guide for new users? And did you get reboots using dd-wrt?

Re: NEW R 7000 Firmware R7000-V1.0.3.60_1.1.27

Assuming they have a year warranty on hardware. I am good. With the update in firmwares, its now like just the internet link light stops and goes out. I have been monitoring connectivity with Internet Connectivity Monitor for disconnects. It shows disconnects at certain period of time, and at the end of the disconnects in the router log it shows:
[Internet connected] IP address: my ip, Sunday, Jun 15,2014 22:49:46. However I have not noted any change in lights or status of actual cable modem.

Have not tested stability with dd-wrt. I will do that next, was turned off by the drastic decrease in speed. Yes I have followed wireless setup guide for new users. I have all N devices connected to the 2.4 ghz. I would like N and AC on 5ghz, I have just a few phones with AC access currently. But at this point stability is paramount. Have been talking to support, currently telling me to adjust MTU.

I have an issue with this firmware and the past ones. I will be using my phone or tablet on 5Ghz band (802.11ac). All of a sudden no web sites will show or anything internet related. The phone will show full bars. The only way to fix is turn off wifi on the phone and back on. Same with my windows 8.1 tablet. Does this every day. I also have just the default settings on and no QOS.

One more thing. When I try just to connect to the routers gui I get nothing while this is going on.

Do you mean that you can't log onto the GUI, or that you don't see anything out of the oridinary there? Curious what "I get nothing" means? Thanks.

Re: NEW R 7000 Firmware R7000-V1.0.3.60_1.1.27

When I try to go to the routers Ip address, the page never loads. Just chrome saying no connection. The phone shows I am connected. I show connected, then try to go to a web site and Chrome will say something is wrong with your internet. Then I try to go to the routers ip and chrome cant find it. After a few mins I get limited or no connectivity in windows 8 tablet if it is the one having issues at that point. I have to disable wifi and re enable it to get it to work on the device.

Now here is something else strange about it. Lets say my phone is the one having issues at that given point. I can take my tablet and log in to the router fine. Other device will work without issues.

Have you tried reserving your IP addresses in the router? I know that the DHCP server in this router is flaky and can cause problems when re-issuing IP addresses especially on wireless devices.

Re: NEW R 7000 Firmware R7000-V1.0.3.60_1.1.27

The wired/wireless disconnect problem that I have been dealing with Netgear support for more than three months is still not resolved with this latest firmware release.

"I updated the R7000 router and the R7000 bridge with the latest firmware release V1.0.3.60_1.1.27.

As after each update, I reset the devices back to factory defaults and reconfigured them manually.

4 days online time later, the problem of this case is again reproducible.

Newly connected wired devices on the bridge can communicate with other wired devices on the bridge, but not with devices over the wireless connection to the router."

Re: NEW R 7000 Firmware R7000-V1.0.3.60_1.1.27

Recently I ran into some strange problems which I swore were caused by a router. They weren't, it was one of my clients.

Wireless isolation, I couldn't connect to other clients when connected to same AP.

Only one client at time could surf when connected to same AP and the yellow triangle over signal bars did not appear right away.

No IP conflicts and under attached devices both were attached. I understand this isn't the exact same problem but worth looking into.

I re-imaged each PC and been working fine for over a week.

searay,

If you're suggesting riesecanada's issue might be client-caused, I can assure you it's not.

Replacing the R7000 with a different brand router immediately fixed the issue.

I'm suggesting that when you tried everything else it doesn't hurt to look at the clients.

Re: NEW R 7000 Firmware R7000-V1.0.3.60_1.1.27

searay,

I reproduced my issue with the wired/wireless disconnect with 4 different client PCs. They use different OSs, e.g., Windows 7, Windows 8.1, & Ubuntu Linux . The only way to fix it is by rebooting the R7000/bridge, which fixes the issue for a few days. If it were only with one client, I would question that one, but not with four different ones.

Yours,
Stephan
